5. The Tate Modern - Situated on the Thames, the Tate Modern is fast becoming one of the leading galleries for modern art in Europe. It has many exhibitions on all through the year, and the best part is that it's free, alright, not technically free as they ask for a donation on entry, but that's at your discretion. Be sure to check out what exhibitions are on before you go as some special ones charge.
4. The Houses of Parliament - Apart from being the place where men in suits bicker like school children, the Houses of Parliament are an architectural feast! Take a tour to see some of the decadent interior and discover a place steeped with history. Learn about the tale of Guy Fawkes and his failed revolution attempt. You can even take a seat in the public galleries and try to decipher the conversation that runs the country.
3. Tower of London and the Dungeons - Take a tour around this ancient prison and learn about the brutal torturing techniques that were used. Discover some of the towers more infamous prisoners like Guy Fawkes. Take a stroll around the gruesome tower garden, where six beheadings have occurred. The tour is fun for all the family; it includes fun exhibitions with dioramas and dummies to demonstrate some of the medieval torture equipment.
2. Big Ben - Big Ben is one of London's most recognisable landmarks. Take a stroll around it and really absorb the architectural feat that it is. Although security has been tightened in recent years so that you can't go inside, you can still grab a coffee in one of the nearby cafés and wait for the hour. The chimes of Big Ben are the most used clock chimes in the world; hear them live for the ultimate experience.
1. London Eye - Since it's erection almost ten years ago the London Eye has fast become one of the most recognisable landmarks in London. A ride typically costs around ten pounds, although you can buy custom champagne packages that can cost anything up to a hundred. Make sure that you take a ride before leaving, the 360-degree views of the city are simply breath taking and you will not be disappointed!
